Our Streets
"Our Streets" is a visual narrative where the rhythm of the city intersects with the essence of human experience. This exhibition is a space where fleeting moments hidden within daily life, frames captured after hours of patient waiting, and the living pulse of the streets converge.

At the heart of this collection lies the "Face" series. Each face and every gaze represents an emotional imprint caught in the random flow of the street, eternalized through the lens. These frames, reflecting the dialogue between the human countenance and the surrounding space, invite the viewer to become a silent witness to the city's unfolding story.

The compositions and graphic works featured in this exhibition explore the abstract connections between urban architecture, the interplay of light and shadow, and raw textures. Each piece is an extension of my signature "dream technique," created entirely in-camera. Adhering to the philosophy of "pure photography," these works contain no digital manipulation or artificial intelligence—only the authentic vision captured at the moment of exposure.

About

I, Joshgun Suleymanov (b. October 9, 1987, Baku), am an artist working across the disciplines of photography and cinema, grounding my visual narrative in a conceptual and philosophical framework. In my work, I create surreal and metaphorical connections between the forms of objects and the aesthetics of the human body, reinterpreting the fragility of the "living" through inanimate forms.

My artistic practice is based on a deep process born from long periods of observation. I do not see myself merely as a photographer, but rather as a director; for instance, I observe the struggle of a being against the wind for a long time, meticulously shaping the scenario of that moment in my mind. I wait until this idea fully matures, patiently searching for that "decisive moment." My goal is to capture, through my camera lens, the same perfect and resolute impact as a painter applying the final brushstroke to a canvas.

I draw my aesthetic inspiration from the depths of classical and modern literature. I am influenced by a broad intellectual spectrum, ranging from Plato’s world of ideas and the existential complexity of Franz Kafka to the philosophical depths of Nesimi. I construct my works using a "dream technique"—a purely manual, in-camera method entirely free from digital manipulation or artificial intelligence. My photography acts as a mirror that, without distorting the reality of the image, confronts the viewer with the psychological and philosophical voids beyond the physical world.
